Worker Dies On Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War Set; Film Body Demands ₹50 Lakh Compensation For Family

A tragic incident on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited film Love & War has sent shockwaves through the film industry. A 42-year-old carpenter, identified as Chandradhari Yadav, lost his life while working on the film’s set at Royal Pump Studio in Goregaon East, Mumbai. The unfortunate accident reportedly took place in the early hours of June 17 and has once again raised serious questions about safety standards on film sets.

According to reports, Yadav was a member of the Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union (FSSAMU) and had been working on the elaborate set constructed for Love & War. While the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, union representatives have reportedly suggested that a short circuit may have played a role. Authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report before confirming the cause of death.

Following the tragedy, Bhansali Productions extended financial support of ₹40 lakh to Yadav’s family. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. However, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has demanded that the compensation amount be increased to ₹50 lakh, arguing that stronger support is necessary for the bereaved family. The workers’ body has also called for stricter safety measures across film and television sets to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The incident has reignited discussions about working conditions for technicians and daily wage workers in the entertainment industry. Industry bodies are reportedly urging production houses to conduct more rigorous safety audits and ensure compliance with workplace safety protocols.

Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles and remains one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases currently in production.
